About the Book

Starside is the first adult romantasy from Alex Aster, the writer behind the bestselling Lightlark series. It follows a young woman named Aris who enters a deadly royal competition for one reason only: to get close enough to the gods to kill them.

About the Author

Alex Aster is a number one New York Times bestselling author whose Lightlark series has sold millions of copies worldwide and has been translated into more than twenty languages. She studied creative writing at the University of Pennsylvania and lives in New York City. Starside marks her first novel written for an adult audience.

Who Is This Book For?

This book is for readers who love fantasy worlds built around magic systems, forbidden romance, and characters driven by real grief and rage. If you enjoyed Lightlark, Fourth Wing, or Hunger Games style survival competitions, Starside will feel like coming home to a genre you already love.

Short Summary

Aris grew up with one memory burned into her mind: the night a goddess destroyed her village and killed her family. Years later, she has one shot at getting close to the gods who did it, by surviving a brutal competition called the Culling and entering the immortal realm of Starside itself. Along the way she is forced to work beside Harlan Raker, the king's guard who once betrayed her and now might be the only person standing between her and death. Readers get a story about grief turning into purpose, trust turning into something more, and a magic system built around blades instead of spells.
