Sudha Murty Box Set of 5 Books: Five Powerful Stories That Stay With You Long After the Last Page

About the Book

The Sudha Murty Box Set of 5 Books is a treasured collection of five powerful fiction novels written by one of India’s most beloved and trusted storytellers. Each book in this set takes you deep into the heart of Indian family life, relationships, love, sacrifice, and the quiet battles that shape who we are. This box set brings together five complete standalone novels under one roof, giving readers incredible value and hours of meaningful reading.

From the Back Cover

What happens when trust breaks, love fades, or society turns its back on someone who deserves better? Sudha Murty answers these questions through real, relatable characters whose lives feel like mirrors of our own. These are not just stories. They are conversations about life itself.

Books Included in This Box Set

1. House of Cards A story of Mridula, a warm-hearted woman who believes in goodness and love. As her husband Sanjay climbs the ladder of success, she begins to see how ambition and changed values can quietly destroy even the strongest of bonds. This book asks a difficult question: when the foundation of trust cracks, can a marriage ever be the same again?

2. Mahashweta Anupama is a young woman whose life changes forever after she is diagnosed with leukoderma, a skin condition. Abandoned by those she trusted, she faces stigma, loneliness, and heartbreak. But she does not give up. This is a deeply moving story about courage, identity, and the strength it takes to rebuild your life from nothing.

3. Dollar Bahu Written originally in Kannada, this story follows a middle-class Indian family whose relationships are tested by the arrival of a daughter-in-law from America. It explores how money, status, and foreign lifestyles quietly change the way families see each other and asks whether love and respect can survive when comparison takes over.

4. Gently Falls the Bakula This is a story of two childhood sweethearts, Shrimati and Shrikant, who fall in love and get married. But as Shrikant’s career takes off, Shrimati’s dreams slowly fade into the background. Told with great tenderness and honesty, this novel explores the cost of ambition and asks what is truly more important: a successful career or a happy marriage?

5. The Mother I Never Knew Two separate novellas tell the stories of two men, each searching for a mother they never had the chance to know. One discovers a half-brother from a buried family secret. The other learns, as an adult, that he was adopted. Both journeys are emotional, honest, and deeply human. This book is about identity, forgiveness, and what it truly means to belong.
