True Story of Faith, Family, and Mission Work Across the Globe

About the Book

Just Along for the Ride chronicles the breathtaking journey of Marc and Nancy Erickson, a young couple who stepped into Somalia during one of its most turbulent periods. With five children in tow, they brought medical care and God’s love to communities across East Africa, China, and the Middle East. Their story weaves together moments of humor, drama, and divine intervention, showing how faith transforms not just individuals but entire communities. From founding Eastbrook Church in Milwaukee to serving in some of the world’s most unreached places, the Ericksons prove that when you say yes to God, the adventure never ends.

From the Back Cover

An extraordinary God works through ordinary people. Follow Marc and Nancy’s adventures around the globe, where every challenge becomes an opportunity to witness His provision, every danger reveals His protection, and every moment affirms that they were never just along for the ride—they were exactly where they needed to be.

It balances humor with drama, showing both the triumphs and challenges of following God’s call to difficult places. The Ericksons’ three-decade leadership of Eastbrook Church adds a unique perspective on how mission work and local ministry intertwine.

Do I need to be interested in missions to enjoy this book?

Not at all. While the book centers on missionary work, it’s fundamentally a story about courage, family, love, and faith that will resonate with anyone who appreciates true-life adventures.
