Hope: The Autobiography by Pope Francis, A Historic Memoir That Will Move Your Heart
About the Book
Hope: The Autobiography is more than a memoir. It is a gift to the world from one of the most recognized and respected spiritual leaders of our time. Pope Francis opens his heart and shares the full story of his life, from his roots as the child of Italian immigrants in Argentina, through his journey as a priest, and all the way to his years as the 266th Pope of the Catholic Church. Pope Francis originally intended this exceptional memoir to appear only after his death, but the needs of our times and the 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope moved him to make this precious legacy available sooner. What you hold in your hands is his testament to the world.
About the Author
Pope Francis was born in Buenos Aires on December 17, 1936, son of Italian migrants, the first of five children born in the working-class barrio of Flores. He became a priest in 1969, was named archbishop of Buenos Aires in 1998, created cardinal in 2001, and on March 13, 2013, became the Bishop of Rome and the 266th Pope of the Catholic Church. He is the first Jesuit and the first Latin American to lead the Catholic Church. He passed away on April 21, 2025, leaving this autobiography as his final gift to the world.
